Category: Product ID: 3050

Description

The Wharfedale Pro MP 2800 (and its updated counterpart, the MP 2800 MKII) is a widely recognized, heavy-duty professional 2-channel power amplifier.
Known in the pro-audio world as a “workhorse,” it is heavily favored for live touring, rental setups, large church installations, and outdoor sound reinforcement due to its sheer durability and ability to survive unstable electrical conditions.

Official Specifications:

Unlike many modern lightweight amplifiers, the MP 2800 relies on a massive internal toroidal transformer that takes up over one-third of its chassis. It utilizes an efficient Class H topology.

According to the official Wharfedale Pro MP 2800 Specifications, the real-world RMS power ratings are:

1. Stereo Mode Output (Per Channel):

8 Ω: 640 W

4 Ω: 1000 W

2 Ω: 1400 W (Fully stable down to 2 ohms)

2. Bridged Mono Mode Output:

8 Ω Bridged: 1900 W

4 Ω Bridged: 2800 W

Key Features & Build

1. Built Like a Tank: It features an all-steel construction designed to withstand extreme vibration, heavy dust, and poor ventilation.

2. Simple Circuitry: It intentionally avoids complex digital signal processing (DSP) or delicate screens. This straightforward analog design makes it incredibly easy and affordable to service or repair if needed.

3. Cooling & Protection: Features a continuously variable-speed fan alongside a comprehensive protection suite (thermal protect, over-current, output DC protect, output short protection, and power on/off muting).

4. I/O Connectivity:

Inputs: 2 x XLR sockets and 2 x 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) jacks.

Outputs: 3 x NL4 (speak ON compatible) connectors and 5-way binding posts.

5. Weight: It is quite heavy, weighing in at 25 kg (55 lbs) net weight due to the massive copper transformer.
