The Sennheiser MKH 60 is a legendary, professional short shotgun RF condenser microphone that has long been a staple on film sets, television broadcasts, and location recording rigs. Known for its exceptional durability and natural sound signature, it has earned a reputation as a highly reliable workhorse.
Although Sennheiser has officially discontinued it in favor of the more compact MKH 8060, it remains highly sought after on the used market.

Compared with the MKH 416
Many location sound professionals describe the MKH 60 as having a more neutral, natural sound than the classic MKH 416, while the 416 has a more pronounced presence boost that helps dialogue cut through. The MKH 60 is often preferred when a smoother, less colored sound is desired.
The MKH 60 has since been discontinued by Sennheiser, although it remains well regarded and is still available on the used market. Its modern successor is the MKH 8060.
