MKH 418S vs MKH 416
The MKH 418S is related to the famous Sennheiser MKH 416, sharing the idea of a directional Mid capsule, but adds the Side capsule for stereo capture. If you only need clean, isolated dialogue, an MKH 416-style mono shotgun setup is often simpler; if you want location ambience and stereo flexibility, the MKH 418S has a major advantage.
